How to start a Motorcycle

The first time I started a motorcycle was with the kick-starting system. The first time I failed, but the second time I succeeded.

Nowadays, there are two popular ways to start a motorcycle:

1. Electric Start Motorcycle

2. Kick-Starting A Motorcycle

Starting An Electric Start Motorcycle

The electronic starting system works in two ways.

1. When your motorcycle is in neutral gear, you can start it. Every motorcycle has an engine start switch located on the right handlebar. When you press the engine start button, your motorcycle starts automatically.

2. When your motorcycle is in 1st gear, you can start your motorcycle. First, you need to press the clutch bar located on the left handlebar. While pressing the clutch bar, press the engine start button, and your motorcycle starts automatically. But be careful when you release the clutch bar, as your motorcycle will move forward. To move forward safely, release the clutch bar slowly.

Set the engine kill switch to “run” and put the bike in neutral. Many motorcycles have a neutral indicator light, so it is helpful to have the key in the “on” position if you’re inexperienced with finding neutral. At any rate, you’ll need to turn the key to start the motor.

Raise the kickstand. Modern bikes will not start with the kickstand down, and they will stall if the stand is put down later.

Press the start button and hold it until the motor turns over. At this point, your engine should be idling. If it stalls, attempt to start it a second or third time, as needed. If nothing happens when you press the button, double-check the petcock, choke, and kill switch.

When your motorcycle sounds proper, you have successfully started your motorcycle!

Kick-Starting A Motorcycle

Lower cc (cubic capacity) motorcycles have a kick-starting system. While most motorcycles utilize an electric starter, some older model motorcycles have a kick-starting system.

**Benefits of kick-starting:**

– When your motorcycle battery is dead, you can’t start your motorcycle unless you have a kick-starting system.

– When your electric start system doesn’t work, you can start the motorcycle by using the kick-start system.

**Negative effects of the kick-starting system:**

– Most of the time, the kick-starting system can injure the rider’s leg.

– Many times, the kick start does not work on the first try; it may take four or five kicks to start the motorcycle.

So, be careful when using the kick-start on your motorcycle.
