What’s documents needed to travel in Switzerland with a motorcycle

When you go to Switzerland for travel with your motorcycle, you must have these documents.

Passport

If you are British or American, you must have a passport. Make sure your passport is valid for at least three months after the day you intend to return to your country. I know this might not seem very important to you and me, but it is very important to the government for reasons I don’t know. However, you should always be concerned about this.

Driving License

Every rider needs to have a valid driving license to prove that you can legally ride whatever size motorcycle you are piloting. Only the photocard licenses are valid in Europe, not the old paper type. If you have one of those, you will need an international driving permit. You should always carry your driving license. Without a driving license, if you are caught by the police, you must provide a fine. When you face a policeman, you should always show your ID, driving license, and motorcycle registration. You will be fined CHF 20 for missing documents.

Certificate of Insurance

You no longer need a green card to ride in the European Union. However, you will need an insurance policy and a certificate of insurance to prove it. Your insurance provider should have sent you a certificate when you bought or renewed your policy. If you lost it, just contact your provider. While you are at it, it’s worth reading the small print; it always supports you when you are riding.

MOT Certification

You must also take your MOT certificates if your bike is over three years old. If you are not the legal owner, for example, if your bike is rented or a company vehicle, then you are supposed to have a V103 form to prove that you have permission from the owner to take it out of the country. That’s all the documents that you currently need.
